Can Animals Lie? Yes

The Prophet Solomon could communicate with animals, so he once communicated the following to a bird:

قَالَ سَنَنظُرُ أَصَدَقْتَ أَمْ كُنتَ مِنَ الْكَاذِبِينَ
“We shall see whether you speak the truth or YOU ARE ONE OF THE LIARS.” [Qur’an 27:27].

So according to this, animals/birds can lie and deceive.

1- Do Animals “Lie”? Yes, Even to Their Own Kind, Biologist Says

When in a tight spot, animals “lie” to their own kind to get what they want, a University of Rochester biologist has found.
In work described in the current issue of the Journal of Theoretical Biology, Eldridge Adams shows that within a single species, it is possible for some members to deceive others.

2- Do Animals Lie?

Is lying just a human trait or do animals lie, too? Many people believe animals don’t lie, that they’re immune to such human failings. However, many studies show that animals do indeed lie. In fact, lying appears to be a sign of intelligence. Therefore, the more intelligent the animal, the more likely it is to lie.

4- Male Fish Deceive Rivals About Their Top Mate Choice

“I find it particularly interesting that fish are capable of such a sophisticated behavior,” said Martin Plath of the University of Potsdam in Germany and the University of Oklahoma.
“The study highlights that traits that we typically ascribe to humans only can also be found in other, seemingly simpler animals and that no consciousness or self-awareness is needed for a behavior like deception to occur.”
